LOVARC was established as a non-profit organization in 1964, primarily serving children with developmental disabilities. Over the years, emphasis shifted to adults with developmental and general disabilities.

LOVARC is vendorized by Tri-Counties Regional Center and the California State Department of Rehabilitation to provide a wide range of programs and services.
Contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Donations may be in the form of cash, personal and/or real property. All contributions are directed to the support of LOVARC's ongoing programs in the Lompoc and Santa Ynez Valleys. LOVARC is accredited by CARF, "Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities".
THE ARC is the national organization of and for people with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities and their families. It is devoted to promoting and improving supports and services for people with mental retardation and their families. The association also fosters research and education regarding the prevention of mental retardation in infants and young children.

LOVARC is the recipient of the 1996 Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce Small Business Excellence Award. LOVARC is also recognized by the City of Lompoc as one of the city's major employers.
